Neuvasq Biotechnologies is developing pharmaceuticals to sustain or restore neurovascular function, a novel mechanism to interfere with disease progression for the benefit of millions of patients affected by neurological disorders.

To help drive the development of its neurovascular/BBB-focused product pipeline, Neuvasq is looking for a (Senior) Research Associate, Cell Biology/Protein Chemistry.

The position is based in the Brussels South Charleroi Biopark, Belgium.

Key responsibilities:

    • Support the development of cell-based assays or in vitro platforms that recapitulate various aspects of the biology of the blood-brain barrier.
    • Express and purify engineered proteins for downstream evaluation.
    • Evaluate compounds and molecules for their ability to interfere with pathways involved in the blood-brain barrier homeostasis.
    • Contribute to the development of engineered cell lines to support assay development.
    • Collaborate with other scientists for the design of in vivo studies aiming at the evaluation of selected molecules in relevant disease models.

Profile:

  • Good knowledge of general molecular biology and cloning techniques, such as vector construction. Knowledge of CRISPR-Cas9 and/or lentiviral transfection is a plus.
  • Practical experience in cell culture techniques, including ideally primary cells culture.
  • Experience in vectors design and recombinant protein expression in eukaryotic systems.
  • Hands-on experience in protein purification techniques such as affinity chromatography, IEX, HIC and SEC.
  • Knowledge of general protein chemistry techniques, such as SDS-PAGE, western-blot, or ELISA. Experience with FACS or Biacore/Octet would be an additional asset.
  • Well organized, flexible, and rigorous.
  • Team-spirit oriented.
  • Ability and willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in vivo animal studies and/or CNS biology is a plus.
  • A BSc or MSc degree in biochemistry, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, chemistry, or similar fields.
  • Considerable previous experience in a similar position is required.

Offer:

  • A full-time contract in an exciting start-up environment.
  • Close collaboration with a team of experts.
  • A unique opportunity for personal development.
